Pie-Pan Apple Dessert

  • 1  egg
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup enriched all-purpose flour
  • 1  teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 11/2 cups chopped pared apple
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • Lemon Sauce, whipped cream, or ice cream
  1. Beat egg until light and fluffy. Beat in brown sugar. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg; add to egg mixture and blend.
  2. Stir in apple and pecans. Spread in well-greased 8- or 9-inch pie pan or plate.
  3. Bake at 350 ํ F about 30 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
  4. Serve warm with Lemon Sauce or desired topping.

Lemon Sauce:

  1. Mix 1/3 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons cornstarch, and a few grains salt in a saucepan.
  2. Add 1 cup boiling water gradually, stirring constantly.
  3. Continue to stir and bring to boiling;  simmer 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Blend in 2 tablespoons butter, 3/4 teaspoon grated lemon peel, and 11/2 tablespoons lemon juice.
  6. Serve warm.
