- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup enriched all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 11/2 cups chopped pared apple
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- Lemon Sauce, whipped cream, or ice cream
- Beat egg until light and fluffy. Beat in brown sugar. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg; add to egg mixture and blend.
- Stir in apple and pecans. Spread in well-greased 8- or 9-inch pie pan or plate.
- Bake at 350 ํ F about 30 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
- Serve warm with Lemon Sauce or desired topping.

Lemon Sauce:
- Mix 1/3 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons cornstarch, and a few grains salt in a saucepan.
- Add 1 cup boiling water gradually, stirring constantly.
- Continue to stir and bring to boiling; simmer 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Blend in 2 tablespoons butter, 3/4 teaspoon grated lemon peel, and 11/2 tablespoons lemon juice.
- Serve warm.
